Rotterdam is internationally known for its large port and port industrial complex. The region is also a leading centre for the maritime industry and the city is home to a large concentration of companies active in the maritime business services sector. The following maritime business services are represented by and united in the Rotterdam Maritime Services Community ( RMSC ): financial services, insurance, legal advice, arbitration, tax consultancy, ship classification, customs advice, surveying – loss adjusting, ship broking, education, and accountancy and advisory.
The Rotterdam Maritime Services Community, also known as the RMSC, represents the business interests of these Rotterdam based companies that provide professional services to the maritime industry. Together with our members, we work on strengthening Rotterdam’s position as a leading maritime business centre.

RMSC works as a virtual organisation. Incorporated under Dutch law as an association, RMSC has a governance structure with a board and a manager who is responsible for daily business. An advisory board supports the association. RMSC strives to organise activities together with partner organisations in the maritime cluster in Rotterdam and the wider Rotterdam area.
Within the RMSC we focus on a number of subsectors of maritime business services that together make for a complete representation of the Rotterdam maritime services sector. These services are: Finance, Insurance, Legal Advice, Arbitration, Tax Consultancy, Ship Classification, Customs Advice, Surveying – loss adjusting, Ship Broking, Education Accountancy & Advisory.
