Young RMSC lecture: the Hanjin case
Over 40 enthusiastic young professionals gathered last Thursday at the Van Traa offices in Rotterdam to listen to some very interesting lectures on the Hanjin case. The group, that consisted of young employees who work at a wide array of RMSC member firms, was present at the first activity of Young RMSC. Young RMSC was launched last October and this lecture was part of a series of activities to be organized over the next months.
After a short introduction by Young RMSC committee member Daan Komen a presentation by expert on the field Bart Hoogstad followed. Bart Hoogstad, who is also a board member at RMSC, works at surveying company Crawford. He discussed the consequences for his clients after the bankruptcy of Korean shipping line Hanjin and showed what kind of actions he had to take for clients to ensure minimal supply chain disruption.
The second part of the lecture was given by Vincent Pool and Lisanne van Baren of Van Traa. RMSC member Van Traa led several legal procedures following the demise of Hanjin. Next to giving some insights into these procedures they also gave their vision on how the Dutch situation after the Hanjin bankruptcy differed from that in Belgium and Germany. In the end some ideas on how to better deal with these kind of situations in the future were discussed.
This lively debate was continued at a nearby bar where due to the large turnout Young RMSC successfully occupied the whole bar. RMSC would like to thank Van Traa for the hospitality, the speakers for their interesting presentations and all participants for their valuable contributions.
We will inform you in due time on future Young RMSC activities. If you are interested in joining one of the activities but your company is not yet a member of RMSC we are more than happy to accommodate you as a guest.
