Flying the Dutch flag – A rich heritage, a thriving present and a sustainable future
Learn more about the added value of the Dutch ship register and the benefits of the NL flag during the joint RMSC and KVNR event on October 15. Due to COVID-19 restrictions it is not feasible to meet in person. Therefore the event has been transformed into a webinar.
The webinar will be moderated by Martin Bloem (Topsector Water & Maritime). Speakers include Raymond Ko (Marstrat), Annet Koster (KVNR), Cynthia Everduin (De Bock Maritiem), and Connie Roozen (C&B More).
Flying the Dutch flag
The Netherlands is home to one of the most prestigious ship registers in the world. Ranked in the top of the Paris MoU white list, the Dutch flag assures shipowners a warm welcome in ports around the world. In 2019 the Ministry of Infrastructure and Watermanagement launched the NL flag campaign to promote the Dutch flag and its accessibility.
The aim of the campaign, executed by Marstrat, is to increase the number of vessels flying the NL flag. In order to strengthen the Dutch maritime cluster and to further develop maritime related economic activity and employment.
Apart from adding to the strength of the maritime industry a strong ship register also contributes to the position of the Netherlands in international maritime organisations such as the IMO.
Topics
During the webinar the speakers will elaborate on specific benefits and opportunities the Dutch ship register has to offer to (international) shipowners and ship managers. Topics include the Dutch tonnage tax scheme, and how the NL flag compares to other flag states.
