RMSC event in London great success!
On September 11 the business lunch that was organised during the London International Shipping Week marked the very first RMSC event outside of Rotterdam. Being part of the Rotterdam, Maritime Capital of Europe network, the international promotion of the Rotterdam maritime business services is one of the pillars of RMSC. The RMSC looks back at a well attended and successful event.
After a warm word of welcome by Dutch ambassador to the United Kingdom Simon Smits, the vice mayor of Rotterdam, Barbara Kathmann elaborated about the development of Rotterdam as Maritime Capital of Europe. “Whatever happens in the future, politically, we can reach out to each other, form new coalitions and keep the business going.”, she said.
During the lunch, CEO of Anthony Veder, Jan Valkier, shared his view on what Rotterdam has to offer and the “ease of doing business in Rotterdam”. Jeroen in ’t Hout from Daamen and Van Sluis and Ben Bidnell from Shipleys, both International accountants, concluded with their vision of the possible impact of Brexit on the maritime sector: “Political mess, but otherwise open for business”.
RMSC thanks the speakers again for their speeches and we will continue to strengthen the relationships between Rotterdam and the UK and in specific with the London business services community. This was the first international event but the RMSC is already planning to organize another event in the spring of 2020.
