Knowledge driven lunch meeting about litigation and arbitration in Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Maritime Services Community, RMSC, is delighted to organise a knowledge driven lunch meeting about litigation and arbitration in Rotterdam. The event will be hosted by the Netherlands Embassy in London and the NBSO Manchester and in collaboration with the Rotterdam Maritime Capital of Europe Network.

Excellent maritime business services

Only 200 miles apart, London and Rotterdam are well connected and both have a long history. Our two maritime cities share an international outlook on the world trade and maritime sectors.

With excellent maritime business services in both cities, Rotterdam, Maritime Capital of Europe, is proud to organize this lunch meeting with a view to enhancing cooperation and the exchange of knowledge.

During this networking lunch, the maritime legal cluster of Rotterdam will present the possibilities for legal advice and dispute resolution via arbitration or court in Rotterdam.

Dutch and UK communities

The meeting will be held on the 15th of November, 2022, 11:30 – 13:30h and will provide an excellent opportunity to meet with the Dutch community and mingle with UK and Dutch experts in maritime legal practice. It is no longer possible to register for this event.

Enhancing cooperation and knowledge exchange

After a word of welcome by the Dutch ambassador, Mr. Karel van Oosterom, the chair of the RMSC, Mr. Erik Witjens will give a short introduction on Rotterdam and the RMSC.

The keynote speech will be held by Mr. James M. Turner KC, barrister and arbitrator, who will shine a light on the differences between Dutch / continental and UK maritime law. He will be followed by Mrs. Christine Sikkel a judge of the maritime chamber of the Rotterdam court, and the chair of UNUM, Mr. Marcel Verhagen, who will outline the litigation and arbitration possibilities in Rotterdam.
