STC – YoungShip Rotterdam Masterclass – Vulnerability of world trade
Being the gateway to Europe, the Port of Rotterdam and Dutch maritime cluster flourish when world trade soars, but are also vulnerable for disruptive events. Because of instability in the world, more and more people realize that globalization and free trade is not a given. Maintaining safe and secure shipping routes come at a cost. How precious free trade routes are, becomes apparent when one of the largest container liner operators goes bankrupt. Containers that get stuck on ships and quaysides puts Christmas shopping for millions of people at risk. This fine balance between free trade and safe and secure shipping routes is the topic of our forthcoming joint STC Group and YoungShip Rotterdam masterclass during the Dutch Maritime Week.
- Deputy Commander Naval Forces Rear Admiral Kramer, Royal Netherlands Navy
