RMSC Advisory Board March 15 2024
On the 15th of March, our bi-annual advisory board meeting was held at city hall. The RMSC advisory board consists of representatives from the Rotterdam maritime and business world. This particular meeting was the first that was attended in person by alderman and vice-mayor Robert Simons.
Also in attendance for the first time were Kitty Tang (Rotterdam Municipality), our new manager Rosalie de Paepe and our (prospective) new board member Maarten Veenstra. A short introduction of all present brought to light that two attendants had served as navigation officers for the same ship owner, sadly now out of business.
The advisory board had also seen a couple mutations in the last year, with Wilbert Lek and Frits Gronsveld leaving, and suitable replacements were discussed.
Seeking guidance
The conversation then turned to different subjects on which the RMSC board was seeking guidance of the advisory board. The addition of ambassadors on key subjects, and how to position them, gave rise to an interesting discussion, as did questions pertaining to developments in the maritime cluster that RMSC is seeking to join. The meeting concluded with an animated discussion on suitable venues for international promotion of Rotterdam and RMSC in particular.
The meeting took place in a convivial setting, and interesting viewpoints were taken from it by the RMSC board, for which we thank the Advisory Board members and other participants.
