Arntz | Van Helden strengthens marine activities through take-over Halyard Survey & Risk

15 April 2019/in News

Technical loss-adjusters and surveyors Arntz | van Helden (part of Van Ameyde) have strengthened their foothold in the marine industry by taking over Halyard Survey and Halyard Risk in April 2019.

Since 2012, the three loss adjusters and surveyors of Halyard Survey have specialised in marine and non-marine surveying, valuations and loss adjusting. Under the name of Halyard Risk, the same experts conduct risk management inspections of shipyards and vessels. Their activities include the highly specialised so-called JH 143 inspections.

Arntz | van Helden’s Managing Director René van Dijk is very pleased with the acquisition of Halyard. “Not only do we expand our service offering for our customers, we also strengthen our team with two highly experienced surveyors and risk experts Henk Scholte and Arnold Warmerdam, trainee surveyor Pieter Gilissen and experienced office manager Jessica Blijenberg.”

Halyard Survey will be integrated in Arntz | van Helden; Halyard Risk will continue its activities under its own brand name. For now, Halyard will continue to operate from its Sliedrecht offices (the Netherlands), but in time the Halyard staff will move to Arntz | van Helden’s offices in Rotterdam.

According to Henk Scholte, co-owner of Halyard together with Arnold Warmerdam and Jessica Blijenberg, the management have considered the future of the company for some time, also in view of the age of some of the surveyors. “When Arntz | van Helden approached us, we have given their proposal considerable thought and mutually concluded that, although none of us plan to retire any time soon, joining this reputable company would be the best option for the continuity of our company and activities, and therefore our customers.”

After the acquisition, Arntz | van Helden employs 33 staff, among whom 23 loss adjusters and surveyors. From its offices in Rotterdam and Amsterdam the technical niche company specialises in loss adjusting, surveying, risk analysis and recoveries in the areas of hull, marine cargo, newbuilding & guarantee, land-based equipment, CAR / Property All Risks, machinery breakdown and electronics.
